「Bumble Bee(熊蜂)」原是一首帶有幽默與暗諷意味的歌曲,來自瑞典阿卡貝拉(A cappella)音樂團體真實之聲(The Real Group),收錄於其2009年發行的專輯《The Real Album》。

"Note #15" is the 15th solo exhibition by artist Huang Kai-Hsin. Many of her works originally stem from the "notes" inside her sketchbooks. To her, "notes" are not merely the starting point of creation, but also a way for art, exhibition, and life to continually coexist. Therefore, barring special circumstances, the artist has chosen to directly use "Note" as the title for her solo exhibitions, continued by sequential numbering.
"Note #15" features Huang Kai-Hsin's oil paintings on canvas alongside contemporary ink works.
The artist affectionately nicknames this exhibition "{80x80}," as the majority of the exhibited canvas works are size 80 canvases. Beyond recognizing the "paintings" themselves, the artist has a habit of recognizing the canvases; size 80 canvases are particularly suited for expressing a "sense of daily life."
Oil and mixed media on canvas serve as Huang Kai-Hsin's primary creative media. Her abstract paintings maintain a focus on formal purity while preserving multiple possibilities for meaning generation, forming an open visual landscape. The creation seeks not a single solution, but rather presents a fluid, non-linear state of existence. The visual elements within the works—whether color, texture, or composition—act as carriers of aesthetic perception, reflecting the complexity and multidimensionality of cognitive processes while constructing a unique and open contemporary visual experience. The artist materializes this internal spatial "dialogue," using the art of painting to present the fluidity, positivity, and diversity of internal thought.
In terms of the artist's contemporary ink works, this exhibition features the series "The Evolution of View #1–5" and "Humble Bee #1–6."
"The Evolution of View #1–5" is a five-piece set that borrows from the old proverb's viewing context—"Mountains are mountains, mountains are not mountains, mountains are once again mountains"—unfolding a visual variation between abstraction and figuration.
"Bumble Bee" is originally a humorous and subtly satirical song by the Swedish a cappella group The Real Group, included in their 2009 album The Real Album. Huang Kai-Hsin has been a fan of The Real Group since high school, and taking this song and years of life experience as inspiration, she created the "Humble Bee" series. Comprising six pieces, the series combines contemporary ink techniques with media such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor.
Through the homophonic play between "Bumble Bee" and "Be Humble," the song uses a lighthearted and humorous approach to remind those who appear industrious yet prone to complacency: even when busy, and even capable of flight, do not forget humility. The humorous premise of "struggling to fly despite seemingly impossible odds" and declaring oneself unable to die further highlights the song's reflection on overconfidence and blind busyness.
In an era of digitization and rapid consumption, both individuals and groups are filled with fluidity and uncertainty. As a slow medium, Huang Kai-Hsin's painting practice provides a slow-paced space for reflection and immersion, maintaining a dynamic balance between certainty and uncertainty. In this state, art appreciation is no longer the search for fixed meanings, but rather an embrace of diverse possibilities. Influenced by spatial design training and ideological studies from her student days—unlike many painters who tend to mass-produce uniform, repetitive series—Huang treats each work as an individual "case study." Consequently, even within the same series, viewers can still perceive rich and diverse creative variations.
Each painting finds its own equilibrium between certainty and uncertainty, figuration and abstraction, thereby forming independent yet mutually continuous visual experiences.
