A soft wind blows, and the remains of a storm are passing away. 在藝術求學期間，Perkins 接觸印象派並深受吸引。印象派以大膽的筆觸與色彩捕捉景象神韻的方式，激發了他的創作好奇；至今，這一藝術運動仍在他的藝術生命中占有特殊位置。 在發展自身藝術實踐的初期，Perkins 回望這些藝術家，思索是否也能以程式碼捕捉一幅印象派經典作品所帶來的感受。歷經多年的反覆實驗，他逐步建立並持續調整演算法，使數位生成的痕跡貼近實體筆觸，並運用混色技術，模擬繪畫表面的質地與特性。 While studying art, Perkins discovered and fell in love with Impressionism. The movement’s ability to capture a scene＆#039;s essence through bold marks and color sparked his creative curiosity, and it has continued to hold a special place in his artistic life. As he began his own artistic journey, Matt looked back at these artists and wondered whether he could capture the feeling of an Impressionist masterpiece with code. Through years of experimentation, he developed and refined algorithms that closely mimic physical brushstrokes and use color-mixing techniques to simulate the qualities of a painted surface. 《Lake Festival》匯聚了 Perkins 數年來的探索：如何在網頁瀏覽器中的二維 JavaScript 畫布上，捕捉印象派繪畫的感受。作品藉由隨機性與雜訊，使多樣的顏料調配、筆觸與大氣條件在生成過程中彼此組合，探索多位印象派大師各自的風格與氛圍。 此次於華山1914文化創意產業園區各螢幕上呈現的，是《Lake Festival》的特別版本。畫面的生成節奏經過放慢，使觀者得以隨時間推移，經歷影像一筆一筆被「繪出」的過程。繪製不再只是通往完成圖像的步驟，而成為作品本身不可分割的一部分；觀者所經歷的，不只是一幅完成後的影像，也包括它在觀看中逐步成形的時間。 Lake Festival is the culmination of Matt’s work over the past several years to capture Impressionism on a two-dimensional JavaScript canvas in a web browser. Through randomness and noise, the work explores the styles and moods associated with several Impressionist masters using varied paint mixtures, brushstrokes, and atmospheric conditions. The work presented on the screens at Huashan 1914 is a special edition of Lake Festival, slowed down so viewers can experience the image being “painted” over time.
