Wētā

Wētā Production Masterclass: Virtual Production What you see on screen in major screen productions may feel beyond reality — but before each shot reaches its final form, it has already gone through a complex and highly coordinated production process. From creatures and digital characters to the intersection of live-action photography and virtual worlds, the creation of a single shot is often about far more than just “visual effects.” This session invites Martin Hill, Senior Visual Effects Supervisor at Wētā FX, to take audiences behind the scenes drawing on his experience across major international productions. Through real-world production experience, Martin will explore how Visual Effects (VFX), Virtual Production, Previsualisation (Previs), and Digital Humans are applied across the filmmaking process — connecting creative development, shooting, and post-production, while revealing how different technologies work together to support storytelling and world-building. As live-action production, digital environments, and visual effects continue to converge, how does a major screen production evolve from an initial idea all the way to the final image? Date: October 26, 2026 (Monday) 16:00-18:00 Venue: LIVE WAREHOUSE (No. 2-5, Dayi Street, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City) Speaker | Martin Hill (Senior Visual Effects Supervisor) Martin Hill is a two-time Emmy Award-winning, Academy Award®-nominated, and Academy® Technical Achievement Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor who has supervised more than twenty films.
