Tāu-hue Grandpa and his grandson decide to participate in the Halloween costume competition, hoping to bring home the big prize to Tāu-hue Grandpa's wife. But to their surprise, a mysterious door appears out of the blue before Tāu-hue Grandpa gets thrown into a dungeon by a man wearing a balaclava. Meanwhile, Dr. Blackbean is secretly sending out the “waves of failure” in different universes to absorb the “energy of success.” In this case, Tāu-hue Grandpa has become the target… Can Tāu-hue Grandpa succeed in foiling Dr. Blackbean’s evil plan and get back to his grandson? This show is created by Gī Hing Koh Puppet Troupe. Gī Hing Koh Puppet Troupe invited Yeh Chih-Wei as the director, this production allows the Taiwanese glove puppetry podcast idol Tāu-hue Grandpa to venture onto the stage. Starting with the well-known Taiwanese proverb “a healed bone gets stronger than before,” Tāu-hue Grandpa's Great Success leads both adults and children to embark on a magic journey that crosses multiple universes and redefines “failure” – if success is defined by others and failure is defined by ourselves, then maybe the so-called “failure”isn't real failure at all ! Combining Taiwanese glove puppetry and live rock music, Tāu-hue Grandpa's Great Success has not only a clear fast rhythm and sensational visual effects but a sense of humor that interacts well with the audience, allowing both adults and children to have fun and gain a great experience in the theatre. Gī Hing Koh Puppet Troupe Established in 1953, Gī Hing Koh Puppet Troupe is currently run by Wang Kai-Sheng, the fourth-generation leader, who invented the genre of “Taiwanese glove puppetry rock musical.” Dedicated to promoting and passing down the skills and exploring all kinds of possibilities for Taiwanese glove puppetry, the theatre company was selected for TAIWAN TOP Performing Arts Group during 2024-2026. In 2021, it launched “Taiwan Puppet Talk,” the first Taiwanese-language podcast focusing on Taiwanese glove puppetry, and Tāu-hue Grandpa was one of the popular characters in the series.
