薪傳歌仔戲劇團與正在動映合作演出，將歌舞伎《怪談牡丹燈籠》中的兩條男女關係揉捻集中，投射於喬慧生與金蓮夫妻身上：一股神祕力量如何以幽魂牡丹的侵入者身份進入這個家庭，以及金蓮與喬慧生如何為了守護家庭與愛情而與之對抗。原本以為驅逐牡丹之後可解除威脅，但牡丹的影響力甚至超過了她的存在。除了金蓮的行為與性格越來越像牡丹，也可以感受到牡丹佔據的地位使得金蓮正在逐漸消失。喬慧生也分不清現實與幻想之間的界線，在試圖理解與挽救正在失去的金蓮時，陷入了更深的迷宮。 本劇意圖藉由重新改寫牡丹燈籠故事，探討愛情的本質與各種面向：從喬慧生與金蓮的世俗婚姻起始，到喬慧生與牡丹痴狂的人鬼激情，再到金蓮與牡丹靈魂的交融。隨著劇情的推進，浮現愛情的真實與幻象、利益前的賭注與犧牲、人心的難測與選擇的艱難。 This production features a collaboration between the Shintrun Taiwanese Opera Troupe and A Studio A Lab, blending and focusing on two romantic relationships from the kabuki play Kaitan Botan Dōrō (The Ghost Story of the Peony Lantern), reinterpreted through the couple Ciao Huei-sheng and Jin Lian (Lotus). The story depicts a mysterious force, embodied by the spirit of Mu Dan (Peony), invading their household and the struggle of Jin Lian and Ciao Huei-sheng to protect their love and family from it. Initially, they believe that dispelling Mu Dan would remove the threat, yet her influence persists beyond her presence. Jin Lian increasingly begins to resemble Mu Dan in behavior and personality, and Mu Dan’s growing prominence causes Jin Lian to gradually disappear. Meanwhile, Ciao Huei-sheng finds it difficult to distinguish reality from illusion, plunging deeper into confusion as he tries to understand and save Jin Lian. By reinterpreting the story of Botan Dōrō, this production seeks to explore the human nature of love and its complexity —the secular marriage of Ciao Huei-sheng and Jin Lian,  the passionate spiritual connection between Ciao Huei-sheng and Mu Dan, and the merging of souls between Jin Lian and Mu Dan.
